Question- With Cermark, we are laser marking on thin lens glass. Part of the cleaning process is to swipe lens with Ethyl Alcohol. Do you know curing process for the Cermark in order to be resistant to the Ethyl Alcohol or if it this is even possible?  

Answer- We would recommend cleaning the product with a lent free cloth and water, but if you must use alcohol, you can wait a minute or less after its marked. The mark is instantaneous and as long as sufficient heat is applied to the material to bind it, alcohol should not be able to remove it. Question- Do you know if co2 lasers have an affect on chromium 3 to convert it to chromium 6? Or does this only occur on fiber laser systems? 

Answer- Only when using a fiber.

Questions Is this layer of polymers just being deposed onto the stainless surface, without affecting the underlying chromium/steel molecular structure? 

Answer- Correct, an 80 watt CO2 laser system will not change the molecular structure of the stainless steel. The laser process using a co2 laser systems will only bond the CerMark to the stainless itself, when the correct laser settings are used to completed the bond the mark will become permanent.  

Question- Does the stainless steel have any molecular changes, when this is used?

Answer- No 

Question- I need to make some ID tags, and am wondering if this product when used on stainless steel is considered 'hot work', or if you have done any testing to see if chromium 6 becomes present in the use on stainless? 

Answer- The CerMark products do not have any chromium 6 present, nor when using the CerMark will there be chromium produced.
